šŸ©ø YouTube Takes Shots as TikTok Bleeds

YouTube launches Remix for Shorts, allowing creators to create their own content off of music videos. Watch out, TikTok! There's a new shortform king in town!

Wassup wassup, creators?!

How are we feelinā€™ on this fine week? Not much to report on my end in this issue except some super sweet page builder updates on CreatorPad that I cover below!

Oh, I did get an Air Up! Nice job team, your creator marketing worked wonders (seriously they sponsored every creator I watch). Itā€™s pretty good but a little bit less flavor intense than expected, but I guess that makes sense because itā€™s all smell. Iā€™ll do a full review if THEY SPONSOR ME. NO FREE LUNCH, AIR UP. With that said, if you know someone on the Air Up team, give me a shout. I want to shill my newsletter for free scent pods (never in a million years did I think I would write a sentence like that, but here we are).

Other than that, onwards and upwards!

Prime Beats Out Gatorade āš”ļøĀ

Source: Prime

Holy toledo, Prime has officially topped Gatorade in sales at Walmart, and I think I just got a kidney stone from thinking about how sweet those things are.

No for real, have you tried Prime yet? I tried it once and it tasted like drinking the liquid from a melted Otter Pop.

Jokes aside, Prime just beat out Gatorade for sales in a month-long period in Walmarts, and thatā€™s a major deal for a creator brand that continues to take over the game by storm.

From becoming the official sports drink of the UFC, the LA Dodgers, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich, the American Flag Football League, and too many more to name in one cohesive sentence (šŸ˜…), itā€™s safe to say that Prime has taken the market by storm.

The overshadowing of a monster company like Gatorade is nothing to bat an eye at. When I was growing up, Gatorade was pretty much the standard when it came to sports drinks. With their commercials of athletes sweating the neon liquid, or dumping it on a coach after a big win, every kid wanted to have Gatorade as their sports drink of choice (could also be because of these bottles, but I digress).

Seeing Logan Paul and KSI continue to push the boundaries and make Prime so prominent in the beverage space, I can already see Prime continuing to eclipse the market until it becomes this generationā€™s Gatorade.

Do you think Prime has the legs to beat out the longstanding sports drink champ? Let me know your thoughts by replying to this email!

YouTube Takes Shots as TikTok Bleeds šŸ©øĀ

Source: YouTube

Just as Universal Music Group pulls its entire library off of TikTok, YouTube doubles down by launching the ability to remix music videos and music, basically placing itself as the new go-to for short-form creators who leverage new (and old) tunes for views and growth.

Letā€™s dive into some of the big changes, and then weā€™ll jump into how this is shifting the creator space. šŸ‘‡ļøĀ

  • Whatā€™s goinā€™ on: You can now remix music videos on YouTube Shorts.

  • How itā€™s done: Through remix features such as Sound, Green Screen, Cut, and Collab, creators can snag the newest or their favorite songs and create their own unique pieces of content.

  • Potential positives:

    • Create your own content using music from official videos, this is no longer an option on short-form rival, TikTok.

    • Collaborate with friends or react to specific pieces of content. You guys already know this is my favorite piece right here. And if you need help finding other YouTubers to collaborate with, let us help! Sign up for CreatorPad and be among the first creators to get paired up with another creator in your niche!

    • Discover and remix older songs from your favorite artists. Just like TikTok, both new and old songs alike will be utilized in remixing.

So why is this a big deal? With TikTok shifting its focus from short-form content to literally everything else (live streaming, shopping, long-form, and more), YouTube is jumping into what made TikTok so popular in the first place; utilizing music/music videos in short-form content.

As YouTube aims TikTok at its most vulnerable moment with no UMG-granted music, I believe the exodus to YouTube for this new feature will be bigger than anticipated. I keep hearing of more and more TikTok-focused creators moving off of the platform to find opportunities elsewhere, and with YouTube making a move such as this, we may see even more TikTok-oriented content on your Shorts feeds very soon. What do you readers think? Any TikTok-centric creators making the move to YouTube? If so, letā€™s chat!!
