🍗 Sidemen Expanding, Fortnite Payouts, New IG Features, & More
YouTube group Sidemen plan to open 10 restaurants by EOY, Fortnite and Epic games changing how
Hellloooooo creators!
I’m happy to be back in NY and I’m excited to meet some of you when I’m in NYC from 6/12-6/17! If you’re in the area and would like to meet up, don’t hesitate to reach out! 😎
I’m happy to announce we’ve had some awesome traction with CreatorPad over the past few weeks, including a partnership that we couldn’t be more excited for. 👀
Keep your eyes peeled, more to come in a few weeks! But for now, on to the latest in creator economy news:
Sidemen Open More Restaurants 🍗
The Beloved UK YouTubers are expanding their culinary footprint by opening ten new brick and mortar restaurants by the year’s end.
So why is this important and what can you learn from it as a creator?
I’m getting right down to brass tax because this comes out in an hour. That’s content creation for ya folks 😅
With the need for expansion of these restaurants, it’s clear to see that their fans are continuously looking to engage with the brand both through, and outside of their content.
For creators looking at this from an outsider perspective, it’s clear that fans want to engage more on all fronts, so giving them the opportunity is a no-brainer.
When comparing this to the success of other creator brands such as Feastables, Prime energy, Chamberlain coffee, and beyond, the biggest piece I pull out is the fact that as a massive creator, you can really push out whatever you may be passionate about, even if it doesn’t necessarily fit your creator brand.
While the Sidemen continue to expand their reach into multiple arenas, it’s easy to see why they (and other large creators) are so successful in most every venture they seek out. The brand recognition, the fan loyalty, and building for those who support you make a perfect storm for side-hustle success.
So creators, will you start a chicken restaurant in the near future? If you do lmk cause I’m a fried chicken fiend. Sidemen, hmu ❤️
Creator Economy News 🚨
This week in the creator world, Fortnite changing up creator payouts, IG breaks down how the sausage is made (why is this a saying 😂), YouTube is playing it safe with the politics, Chamberlain & Beast making big moves, and more.
Epic Games is switching up how its creators get paid out. The most recent swap? Fortnite Island creators will now be paid out not only for people playing on their islands, but also for the amount of time spent on that island.
Want to know how Instagram works? In a new blog post by IG, the media giant lays out how the app feeds you content, how it ranks content, and more. TBH, I dig the transparency!!
YouTube is cracking down on political misinformation on the platform. YouTube recently put new policies in place to “prohibit certain types of content relating to free and fair democratic elections.” Something tells me they learned their lesson from TikTok’s experience. 😅
You should see these 👀
Emma Chamberlain’s creator-coffee brand raises $7M to continue expanding the empire. With Emma being one of the main investors, it’s easy to see why this brand is so successful. Passion and creativity merged with brand (& fan) loyalty smells like success to me, or maybe that’s just the coffee.
MrBeast wants to test out more “traditional” streaming platforms to see how his challenges perform. Who’s gonna get it first? Jellysmack x Roku, where you at?!
Gaming awards, creator awards, what about V-Tuber awards?! If you’re a V-Tuber looking for your time to shine, December might be all you.
