šŸ”¬ The Science Behind MrBeast, TikTok Text Posts, Apple's Chat GPT, Threads by the Numbers, and more.

This week in creator news we cover the science behind MrBeast's success, we cover Threads through analytics, TikTok copying Twitter & Threads, Apple's ChatGPT Competitor, and more.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

I wanted to give a massive thank you and shout out to everyone who congratulated me on one full year of newsletters. Itā€™s been a crazy journey and Iā€™ve learned so much about the creator space and myself as a creator and writer. I feel as though Iā€™ve found my true voice, and I cannot wait to continue pushing these out for years to come. Hereā€™s to the next 52 issues and beyond! šŸ„‚

But enough of that sentimental jibber jabber, letā€™s jump into this weekā€™s creator economy news:

Threads by the Numbers šŸ§®

Shout out to Izea for yet another incredibly insightful report, I swear these folks are some of the most on-top-of-the-ball players in the creator game when it comes to analytics on new trends.

So with Threads dropping recently, Izea went ahead and crunched the numbers for us. Letā€™s jump into the surprising analytics below:

  • The biggest piece of news with this can be seen in the headline: ā€œ54% of Influencers on Threads have already posted sponsored content.ā€ Thatā€™s significant, to say the least. With over 100 million users since its launch on July 5, that makes for a lot of people to be influenced, and itā€™s clear that brands have hopped on the brand deal boat asap.

  • 60.9% of influencers created Threads accounts in the first 10 days of launch. With the ability for users to transfer over their IG follows, and subsequently followers, it really was a no-brainer for influencers looking to bring in even more money.

  • ā€œ90% of active Threads users think the app will be a good place for brands and influencers.ā€ Not sure how much weight this holds, though. Threads is now down to only 13 million active users as of three days ago, which makes for a 70% decrease in users. While 13M is still nothing to bat an eye at, IG, for comparison, has 500M active daily users as of March. While it may be an ad-friendly place, I believe that comes from the true fans that creators have brought from other platforms.

  • ā€œ50% of Threads users say that the appā€™s ownership by Meta positively impacts them to use it more.ā€ That also makes for half of the users thinking Metaā€™s ownership is a negative in this situation. And I canā€™t blame them, from Musk to Zuck, itā€™s all bad in terms of whoā€™s running these platforms.

  • ā€œNearly half of 18 to 29-year-olds who joined Threads have already deactivated or deleted their accounts.ā€ Iā€™ll let this stat speak for itself. Because a Threads user will now have to fully delete their IG account in order to get off of Threads, this potentially makes for many accounts scrubbed from both platforms. I would be interested to see the stats behind this to see how many people deleted, and how many deactivated. Something tells me itā€™s a majority of the latter.

  • In relation to the above stat about users deactivating, I think this next point holds a lot of weight. The report reads, ā€œ28% of users that have deactivated or deleted their account say that they received unwanted attention or harassment from other users.ā€ In this same section, Izea also notes that females were far more likely to shut down their accounts as compared to males. I wonder if Threads isnā€™t going to be this ā€œhappy go-luckyā€ place that Zuck paints it out to be.

Now there are many more stats and graphs to back up this data, so I definitely recommend going and checking out the full report below. While some of the user base is down from launch date, this is to be expected from almost any new product. Especially in the social sphere. I believe Threads will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, and has most definitely placed Twitter (or ā€˜Xā€™ now itā€™s now referred to?) on the burners.

Creator Spotlight šŸ”¦

Meet JHXC64!

Now, I covered JHXC a few newsletter issues ago, heā€™s the creator who used the reference video from Ludwig that showcased how YouTube isnā€™t luck, but skill. To prove this theory, Ludwig, created a completely new channel and racked up tens of thousands of views and a few k subs.

After that video popping off, JHXC has amassed 31k subs and is now pushing out even more content related to YouTube, and YouTubers.

His most recent video? Tackling the slow death of YouTube outros. As a continuation of his video ā€œThe Slow Death of YouTube Intros,ā€ JHXC takes a crack at why outros are on the same road to death as intros for content creators (or are they?).

Definitely go check out JHXC, I have a feeling heā€™ll continue to pop off and get some big hits with his strategic YouTube gameplay, so get in while itā€™s still early!

Keep killin it and giving us that YT insight, JHXC!!
