๐ค Multiple TwitchCon Injuries, YouTube Handles, & Financial Tips for Creators
Creator breaks back at TwitchCon, YouTube is adding handles for users, Entreprenuer.com gives financial advice for budding creators, and more. This Week On CreatorPad:
Welcome to this week's issue of the CreatorPad Newsletter, where we update you on all things CreatorPad and the creator economy!
Maybe it's the cold weather creeping in here in NY, but I'm feeling extra appreciative this week. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has been tuning into these newsletters on a weekly basis. I absolutely love writing these, and relaying the most important news in the creator space has turned into a true passion of mine. With that said, I definitely miss some things, and that's where you come in! If there's news that I miss, topics you'd like to see covered in a future issue, or just want to say hi, please feel free to send me a note at [email protected], and I'll be sure to get back to you. Who knows, maybe you'll even get a shout-out!ย
As for CreatorPad, we're still heads down building out our new siteย and gearing up for our full launch, which we will be comingย very soon. We have been working hard behind the scenes speaking with creators, onboarding talented team members, aligning with brands, and producing some killer content. I absolutely cannot wait to launch the newsletter issue that announces we're ready to go, but in the meantime, here's the latest in the creator economy. ๐
Carnage in the TwitchCon Foam Pit ๐ค
Not sure how I didn't hear about this until today, but apparently, multiple people were injured (including a broken back) at TwitchCon this weekend after having a "duel" in a foam pit sponsored by Intel and Lenovo. The foam "pit" turned out to be nothing more than some scattered foam blocks on top of a slab of concrete. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?! ๐
Along with a creator breaking her back in two places, there were also dislocated knees, sprained ankles, and other injuries sustained by four creators who participated in the event. So now we know to treat foam pits like pools; check that depth before diving in because whoever set up this event wasn't checking, that's for sure.ย
YouTube to Add Handles? We Call @CreatorPad!
Called it, no takesies backsies!
In even more recent YouTube news (do these guys ever stop evolving?), the platform now plans to add handles to all users, allowing people to have an '@ name' instead of channel names.ย
Interestingly enough, this won't thwart people from having the same channel names (two channels can share the same name), but it will allow creators to have their own unique handles, which can't be used by others on the site. This handle is being brought about to allow "people to easily find and engage with creators and each other on YouTube," as per YouTube's announcement. While not the craziest development, it's still a noteworthy update. So, how will this change your branding on YouTube?ย
Creator Economy News ๐จ
This week in the creator world, Google give some tips for October posts, Meta shuts down Bulletin, and BeReal has a 9% daily open rate.ย
Facebook (Meta) announces that it will be shutting down its newsletter platform, Bulletin. I mean, if it comes right to my inbox, why go to Facebook anyways?
With over 53 Million downloads, Instagram competitor BeReal is facing some troubles, with recent estimates showing that only 9% of users open the app daily.
Google gives creators some insight on Spooktober language to make your content stand out. Top of the list? Refreshments, costumes, and DIY decor.

Creator Spotlight ๐ฆ
Meet Alex Velez!
If you're a fan of CreatorPad's YouTube content (our show is amazing go check it out ๐) then you definitelyย know this creator. It's CreatorPad's very own, Alex Velez! On top of the hysterical creator economy comedy and commentary (say that five times fast) that Alex puts out with his cohost Dimi, Alex also has a channel of his own that he's started pushing some extra content out on (or continuing to push out content, I should say).
In a series called "Lunch Break," Alex takes his lunches to share stories with his audience. From stories about moments in his childhood to his current day life in Berlin, Alex utilizes his comedic storytelling skills to break down events in his life. While he only has a few videos, the content that he's producing not only has strong editing and storytelling but is insanely entertaining and relatable.
Watching Alex's videos has me reminiscing on my own stories from childhood and entices me to share them with my friends. If you're looking for some relatable content that inspires you to share stories of your own, look no further than Lunch Break.ย
Keep up the great work, Alex! ๐
