👀MrBeast Cures Blindness, TikTok Ban in the U.S., Creator Funding Plummeting, & More

The U.S. may be banning TikTok, MrBeast cures 1000 people's blindness, Twitch announces 2023 plans, this YouTuber will have a Super Bowl commercial, and more.

Anyone else following this potential TikTok ban closely? This could be a HUGE issue for a massive amounts of creators, but especially those who haven't started porting their short form over to YouTube. If you haven't made the jump yet, it's time to seriously start thinking about it. Better safe than sorry!

Was Creator Economy Funding Overhyped? 📉

In this episode of the CreatorPad Podcast, Alex breaks down the recent trend of platforms scaling back their creator funding services.

With the recession touching every part of the economy, platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat and more are rolling back their creator funds, and creators are earning less money.

This rollback on creator funds is hurting creators as most of the money is still only going to the top one percent of creators on each platform. With earning money through monetization becoming more difficult, how can creators create longevity behind their brand?

TikTok Ban to Be Voted On 🚫

Things are coming to a head with the TikTok v the US debate, and it looks like TT might be in hot water.

It has been announced that the House Foreign Affairs Committee will vote on a bill that determines if TikTok will be banned in the US. Representative & Chairman in HFAC, Michael McCaul, mentions that the concern is that "this app gives the Chinese government a back door into our phones.”

After the vote, TikTok's parent company, Byte-Dance, will have its CEO, Shou Zi Chew testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee in March. In this testimony, Chew will speak on TikTok's consumer privacy and data security practices, their impact on children, their relationship with the Chinese Communist Party, and more.

More to come on this developing news, but I gotta ask: What will happen to the creator economy if TikTok gets the ban hammer? I smell a YT Shorts renaissance, but that's just me. ☕️
