What Motivates Creators? πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

A recent report published by Deloitte shares some key insights on the creator economy and what makes creators tick. Let's break down the key insight below!Β

  • Almost 60% of creators don't earn more than $50k/year, BUT 75% say they will be making over $50k within the next year.

  • More than 50% of revenue comes from brand sponsorships.

  • 1 in 3 creators want new resources to drive revenue.

  • More than 2 out of 3 creators prioritize brand-audience fit when considering ads.

  • Almost 50 percent of creators find difficulty in brand collaboration.

There are many more intricate takeaways in this report, but the overarching theme is that creators want to work with brands, but aspects such as brand-audience fit or even finding brands to collaborate with in the first place is tough work in itself.Β

While still insightful, this report serves more as a guide for brands looking to break into the creator space and covers important insights into the creator world today. So, if you're a brand, check out the report below to make yourself more privy to the current state of the creator economy, and if you're a creator, do you fall into the majority or the minority in the reported statistics?

YouTube Gets a GlowUp πŸ’„

If you've opened YouTube over the last couple of days, you may have noticed the sleeker design, but those rounded corner thumbnails aren't all that's changed.

From small changes such as dark theme and ambient mode or advanced scrubber mechanics and more flashy colors, YouTube also made some big swaps as well.Β

The biggest swap being the splitting of Shorts, Live, & Long-Form videos into different sections or "tabs." This new layout should be easier to navigate and allow for easier viewership and discoverability of channels. Still, it begs the question: will YouTubers create new channels for each lane to appease the algorithm gods a bit more, as well as widen their reach? Regardless, the updates are sleek and will inevitably lead to even more creator evolution.Β

The biggest question that's rattling around in my mind is: How will TikTok retaliate? Do you think we'll see a content split? Dare I say a dark mode? How do you think TT will fire back at good ol' YT?Β
