Research suggests that there are several reasons that people are swapping to alternative outlets for information. From diminishing attention spans to the evolution of learning styles and insufficient resources prioritized on Google's algorithm, TikTok and other social platforms are becoming the new generation's go-to search engine.

At a tech conference, Google's Senior Vice President, Prabhakar Raghavan, stated that they are losing nearly half of their consumer base due to these social outlets. "In our studies, something like almost 40% of young people, when they're looking for a place for lunch, they don't go to Google Maps or Search," said Raghavan, "they go to TikTok or Instagram."
