😯Hans Zimmer x MrBeast, Andrew Callaghan on 'This Place Rules,' YouTube Cutting Monetization, & More.

Iconic composer Hans Zimmer works with MrBeast on scoring his most recent video, Andrew Callaghan sits down with HasanAbi to chat his new documentary, YouTube is cutting monetization for videos past, present, future, & more. This week in the creator economy:

Welcome to this week's issue of the CreatorPad Newsletter, where we update you on all things CreatorPad and the creator economy!

Happy New Year, and welcome back! I hope everyone had a happy and healthy holiday and we're feeling recharged and ready to take on 2023. It's been a quiet two weeks in the creator world, with most of the updates being "year in review" or "trends for 2023" pieces. While the start of the year may be a bit slow, there are still some goodies to cover. Check 'em out below, and let's get after it this year, everyone. 😎

Hans Zimmer Scored MrBeast Video?! 😯

MrBeast links up with musical composer Hans Zimmer in his recent video capturing his adventure in Antarctica.

You know Hans Zimmer's work, even if you don't know who he is. Best known for composing the beautiful and enthralling music scores for some of the biggest movies in history (see Lion King, Interstellar, Dunkirk, The Dark Knight, and dozens of others), Zimmer is an absolute legend when it comes to scoring bodies of film.

As an outsider, hearing that Zimmer worked with MrBeast on a YouTube video is absolutely mind-blowing. I mean, this guy worked on some of the most well-known and iconic movies from my childhood, and now he's working with a creator who is pushing the limits of creation just as Zimmer does in his own work.

So you may be wondering, "ok how did MrBeast pin down the top musical composer who's won multiple Oscars and Grammys?" And honestly, so did I. How did Beast lock it in? Right place, right time (and lots and lots of connections 🙃).

After learning that Zimmer was in Antarctica at the same time that MrBeast was shooting ‘I Survived 50 Hours In Antarctica,' Beast decided that he needed to meet with the legend himself for a musical composition of his own. “The moment I heard Hans was there too, I knew I had to work with him on this no matter what it took,” said MrBeast. MrBeast's crew tracked down Zimmer, got a meeting, and within four hours, they agreed to work together.

A creator working with someone of the caliber of Hans Zimmer is nothing to bat an eye at. This collaboration should be an alarm to folks both in and outside of the creator economy to start looking deeper at the potential connections to be made as the world of personal production (YT, TT, etc.) continues to rear its head into the mainstream.

So, what do you think of MrBeast utilizing one of the world's greatest composers for a YouTube video? And what do you think about Zimmer agreeing to the collaboration in the first place?

An Open Conversation with Andrew Callaghan 5️⃣

In this cut from a recent Hasan Piker aka HasanAbi Twitch stream, Andrew Callaghan from Channel 5 News sits down to chat about his new HBO documentary, 'This Place Rules.'

While most of the content about Andrew is consumed through either his viral videos on the Channel 5 YouTube page or clips of him in other, more formal interviews, this casual sit-down allowed Andrew to really speak his mind and share his thoughts on different points of his journey while creating his new documentary. Moments such as the iconic CNN interview, discussing certain people Andrew interviewed, and more were covered in this casual conversation/stream.

So what's the importance? Having an interview via a live-streaming platform allows for a casual conversation. It can sometimes make for a more solid interview than some top journalists (reporters) interviews on the same subject. There is something to be said about the simplicity of conversation and the things that can be learned when there isn't an end goal during a discussion.

Shout out to Hasan and Andrew for changing the journalism landscape in interesting and engaging ways. It's needed now more than ever!
