A Peek Into the Future of Creator Commerce šŸ”®

I had the incredibly opportunity of sharing my thoughts into the creator space and what makes creators tick in this recent report by Throne! Iā€™ll break down the details below, but first letā€™s jump into what this report contains.

This report takes a crack at breaking down the current state of the creator space, particularly related to commerce, while also taking a peek at what this may look like in years to come. Check out the high level details below:

  • Brands who leverage small and medium sized creators have a better chance at reaching new customers.

  • There are now higher costs associated with running creator driven ads. With more brands coming into creative platforms, ad space is being pushed higher. Keep this in mind, small to mid tier creators!

  • ā€œDiscovery shoppingā€ or buying something you werenā€™t searching for is still finding its footing and is much harder in an online setting than compared to in person stores.

  • While discovery shopping is harder, the trust has shifted to creators and away from brands, so if a creator you like pushes a product you didnā€™t consider, this is the new discovery shopping. I know Iā€™ve fallen ā€œvictimā€ to this type of advertising!

  • This shift has allowed smaller brands to get larger, more precise audiences for their products by use of specific creators.

  • Creators are moving away from traditional platform monetization, and moving towards diversified income streams to allow for more sustainable and reliable pay.

  • The report dives into payout percentage discrepancies for the largest platforms like TikTok, YT, Twitch, and more.

  • From the information collected, they found that most all creators prioritize affiliate links and brand deals over platform payouts.

  • Creators care about their fans and care about the ads theyā€™re running or products theyā€™re promoting to these individuals.

  • Close to 70% of this surveyā€™s participants said theyā€™d like to be a full time creator, but arenā€™t there just yet. This seems to be a consistent norm across the space in most every report.

  • We NEED to lift up the creator middle class in order for even more creators to thrive in the market. Whether in a side hustle, or full time capacity, the middle class will allow for more democratization of payout.

Now, I know for a fact this is only scratching the surface of what was covered in this report, but these are the biggies (in my eyes). Definitely check out the full 34 page report, itā€™s super chock full of insight for creators, founders, marketers, and beyond.

Thank you to Throne and the team for allowing me to share my thoughts on some of these points, it was an honor and a pleasure to be able to share my thoughts on the creator space!

Creator Spotlight šŸ”¦

Image: BSprex Fishing (YouTube)

As Iā€™ll be heading back to Eastern Long Island very soon to soak up the warmer months, Iā€™ve been diving back into some fishing content to get me excited for the upcoming season. And in getting into that content, I felt that I had to show some local love this week.

BSprex is an angler and content creator based out of Long Island, New York, who creates some fantastic fishing content all year round (I was surprised to find he fishes during the NY winter as well)!

I love BSprexā€™s content because heā€™s so driven and passionate about fishing. Rain or shine, night or day, he is out there getting lines wet and catching some big fish. And his posting schedule is insanely impressive!

Heā€™ll go fishing at night and have a video out the next morning, or go in the morning and have a fresh post for the evening. He can edit quickly and efficiently with no frills. If youā€™re an angler, definitely check out BSprexā€™s content. Especially if youā€™re in the North East!
