Fortnite gives Creators 40% πΈ

Last week Fortnite's owners, Epic Games, announced a new feature to the game that's geared towards giving creators even bigger cuts of the funds produced by their creations. This new project is dubbed "Creator Economy 2.0."
I'll break down the biggest details below:
It will reserve 40% of the money made from Fortnite's item shop and real-world purchases to be shared between people who have built Creative mode islands.
This is a massive update from the way the previous system worked, which only gave creators a commission on purchases made using their creator codes.
This new program will attract more creators to Fortnite to produce content for other players, which will in turn drive revenue for both them and Epic Games (and probably produce some killer video content).
This addition will also likely drive more players to engage in the new maps created by their favorite players, leading to even more gamers flocking to Fortnite (and again, this provides a huge plus for streaming and video opportunities).
Although this program sounds kick ass for Fortnite creators, there's still a bit of nuance with the details on payout and prioritization.
It's still a bit unclear how Epic will determine which creators are eligible for payouts, my fear is that this can create an "upper echelon" of this community and not allow for smaller creators to grab a piece of the pie.
So Fortnite creators, are you pumped up by this announcement, or are you a bit iffy on the gaming giant giving up their funds to players in fear of favoritism6?
Creator Economy News π¨
This week in the creator world, creator led marketing is pretty much the only smart way to market in today's world, Twitter cuts tipping, Twitch loses direction, Microsoft launches a host of new AI features, and so much more.
This article breaks down the reasoning behind the success of creator-led marketing. With almost all consumers (92%) trusting influencer marketing over traditional advertising, it's no wonder why creators are going to be the key for brand success.
Twitter is rolling back its efforts with 'Coins' and 'Tipping' - and I literally didn't even remember that they were a thing until seeing this article? Did any of you readers ever use these features?
Twitch has lost its way according to staff and streamers. This is a beefy article and dives into great detail, my biggest takeaway? No one seems to be steering the ship, and the passengers and crew are the ones taking the biggest hits.

If you're a Microsoft Stan you're going to love these new features. A new AI called CoPilot is being released across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more.
Jay Clouse has some fantastic takes on consistency and the negative connotations that can be tied to the content machines that we see from massive creators.
I'll do a bigger break down on this in a future LinkedIn post (shoot me a follow to stay up to date!), but Fiverr put together a 40+ page guide to the creator economy.

Meet Alex The Grape! π
First off, I've seen Alex everywhere; from the Colin & Samir subreddit to Jon Youshaei's community, Alex is out there getting feedback on all of his content, and every time I see a new video or Short from him come out, the content gets stronger and stronger.
Alex's channel is what I like to call vlogging with a twist. While he is vlogging different moments of his like like infiltrating Airrack's Pizza party or cooking eggs in a tree (all my homies hate Anastasia π€), all of Alex's content is so personable that it makes you feel like you're watching one of your buddies go on these adventures. Alex has a super comedic and playful personality that comes through in his videos, and it makes me an even bigger fan of him and his work.
It's clear that with Alex's tenacity to improve his content and get feedback, married with super talented production levels, interesting video ideas, and his drive to create, that he will continue to succeed as a creator.
Keep up the grape work, Alex! π
