๐ŸฅŠ Fighting the Algorithm, YouTube Updates, & Featuring YOU

YouTube opens more ways for creators to earn, creators find new ways to beat the algorithm, LinkedIn's top 10 thought leaders in the creator space & more. This week on CreatorPad:

Welcome to this week's issue of The CreatorPad Newsletter, where we update you on all things CreatorPad and the creator economy!

This week's newsletter is a bit of a short one as the team has been head down, gearing up for the launch of our community AND our new website (oooh shiny)!

We've been consistently pushing out weekly content on both YouTube and TikTok, and we're learning that the algorithm is even harder when you're starting new content. Although one thing does stand true; as you keep posting, the deeper you get pulled in. If you stop getting this newsletter, someone come get me out of the algorithm optimization hole, it's cold down here!

More updates to come in the next week, but until then, check out the most recent stories from this week in the creator economy. ๐Ÿ‘‡

YouTube to Add Monetization to Shorts

Did someone just hear TikTok say "uh oh"? Because I think I did. YouTube recently announced the launch of monetization on YouTube Shorts. I can personally say that YouTube's algorithm is a bit easier to understand than TikTok's (who am I kidding? I still don't understand either), but with the push to inject funds back into creators producing these short-form videos, I think I know which basket I'd rather put my eggs in.

To be eligible for this opportunity, YouTube still needs you to be a part of its partnership program, but the requirements have changed a bit for this new approach. Where you used to need 1k subs and 4k hours of watch time in a year, you can now become eligible if you have 10m Shorts views over three months. While the barrier of entry is still high, this opportunity allows creators to jump off of the TikTok bandwagon and fall into new opportunities or even double up their repurposed content for even more cash per click. ๐Ÿ’ธ

LinkedIn Reveals their List of Top 10 Creators

I truly think this may be one of the first tier lists that I haven't had a problem with. No celeb promotion because of a generic "thought post," no additions of advertising, just a simple list marking down some of the biggest thought leaders in the creator space.

Personally, I was pumped to see Samir Chaudry as #1 and a bit disappointed not to see Quentin Michael Allums making the list. Regardless, I'm just happy to see a "top-tier" list that's not just trying to get attention from celebs or influencers. Did your favorite thought leader in the creator space make the top 10?

Meet..... Yourself?!

If you're not already familiar, every week in our newsletter we feature a creator who is doing amazing things or making big moves in their niche. While I have mainly been promoting people that I watch frequently, I've realized that I may not be pitching creators who adhere to everyone's interests.

That's why this week, I'm asking our readers to send in requests on creators we should be showcasing! Whether you're submitting a friend, someone who you watch weekly, or even yourself, we want to hear from you!

Drop me a message at [email protected] if you have any recommendations; I hope to see YOU in the next newsletter! ๐Ÿค
