Creator Space to Reach $3T by 2027 💸

According to this article by Goldman Sachs, the creator economy is set to double in the next five years, from $250 billion today to $480 billion by 2027. Now that's some solid growth!

While the article states that this growth is right in line with expectations, there are many more goodies in this piece, so let's break em down below!

• Spending on influencer marketing and platform payouts will likely be driven short-form video platform monetization. This advertising is anticipated to be the main source of growth in the creator economy.

• 50m creators across the global are expected to grow at a 10-20% compound annual growth rate during the next five years.

• Monetization is king. The platforms that are likely to attract influential creators and a larger share of the total spending are those that will offer multiple forms of monetization.

• One of my favorite sentences pulled from this article is "platforms [are] in the driver’s seat." You heard that right, YT, TT, and co., you hold the keys, so let's see some action taken to lift up the creator middle class!

While we're currently in an economic downturn, these insights point us to greener grass and should be some wind in the sails for you fellow creators. The report primarily positions platforms (we love alliteration) as the number one driving force in how creators can (and will) grow, which makes me a little uncomfee, but it definitely makes sense

Creator Economy News 🚨

This week in the creator world, some of the biggest banks want you to get a job and give up content, brands taking advantage of creators, Lemon8 may get the boot, bye bye Buzzfeed news, and more. This week in creator economy news:

• These banks want you to quit content and turn to a 9-5. LOL imagine? This is a great article on the democratization of pay for content creators and a view on the current standing of the space from a financial standpoint. Def worth a read, but don't let the old folks get you discouraged, we'll all be fine.

• Perhaps the above is happening because of greedy companies siphoning off of creators. But a massive brand would never take advantage of people for money... right? Let's build up that creator middle class and earn that well deserved money!

• Byte-Dance owned app, Lemon8 is already facing some potential bans in the US along with its counterpart, TikTok. I don't know, something about Lemon8's rise is a bit fishy to me. A potential ban comes, and they launch a new app immediately after? Hmmm..

• BuzzFeed News is being shut down, and now I have no idea what I'm gonna do if I need to figure out if my cat is a wizard. 🙃

• Markiplier is set to create a movie, and he's doing everything. Who needs producers, writers, actors, and someone to pay for it when you can just do it yourself?

• Snapchat is releasing a handful of new features for creators to earn more bucks. BUT you need to have 50k followers, 25m monthly views and at least 10 Stories per month.

Max is not only an insanely talented creator, but is an entrepreneur as well, crafting his own creative business while pushing out killer content.
