Discord Introduces Server Subscriptions πŸ’Έ

Watch out, Patreon...

Discord recently announced that they will be rolling out a feature allowing creators to monetize their communities and collect 90% of the revenue. Servers that meet the requirements can turn on the monetization feature that will allow Subs from $2.99 - $199.99.

With creators like MKBHD and Bella Poarch already utilizing Discord, this roll-out will undoubtedly pull in more creators to engage and mobilize their audience through deeper community connection and exclusive experiences offered through the subscription packages.

So creators, do you already have a place for your community to engage with you and each other? If so, would this new feature convince you to check out Discord?

And for those who don't yet have a place to engage with their community, does this announcement make you want look a bit deeper at Discord rather than a platform like Patreon?

A Year in Review: YouTube 2022 πŸ’

YouTube recently rolled out 'A Year on YouTube', which covers the top videos and creators over the past year on the platform.

From trending long-from videos to Shorts, top songs, and creators, YouTube gives us the year in review, and all I can think of is: How long until YouTube implements a Spotify Wrapped-esq feature that shows personal stats of YT consumption? πŸ€”

Regardless, let's jump into the deets belowπŸ‘‡

  • Top videos include TechnoBlade's final video (😞), Will Smith smacking Chris Rock, and Dream's face reveal (I'm shocked that only one MrBeast video made the top 10).

  • Top Shorts are certainly not what I expected, personally I've only seen the #1 on the list of the video of the diver cracking the egg underwater (yea, you know the one).

  • Top songs were surprising as well, featuring two songs from Disney movies, two Bad Bunny songs, and a handful of others (LOL at Super Gremlin making the top three πŸ˜…).

  • Top creators unsurprisingly include MrBeast, NichLmao, Airrack, Ryan Trahan, and more (did your favorite creator make the list?).

  • And I love the call out of Breakout Creators, but I'm wondering what stats determined these choices πŸ€”.

What did you think of this year in review? Was there anything (or anyone) that you wished YouTube included? Next year I hope to see more niches covered, such as top female creators, the most shared videos, the best educational content channels, budding creators, and more.

This is a great start, but I'm thinking YouTube needs to take note from Spotify Wrapped on this one.

Creator Spotlight πŸ”¦

Scrolling through Max's channel is like taking a look back into a time capsule of his life over the past four years. Amassing over 26M views across dozens of videos and over 500k fans, Max has crafted a channel that, in his words, is "encapsulating what it means to grow up and find your place in this modern-day, fast-moving, and ever-changing world."

From telling stories revolving around specific topics like school, his travels, or meeting strangers to more intrinsic topics such as starting new life paths, overcoming fears, or mental health, Max isn't afraid to take a swing at anything that comes across the plate.

As he has been telling his stories to the world for more than four years, Max's sincere videos strike a chord and can help you think about the world in different perspectives as you navigate daily life.

While Max continues to push out uploads, he also has started a brand called Perspectopia. With an almost entirely sold-out shop, Perspectopia and Max remind us that life and living are all about how you frame events and happenings as you carry forward.

I'm super happy that I happened across Max's channel, and if you're looking for some fantastic storytelling coupled with great visuals, definitely check out Max's channel. I'm excited to continue to watch and see the progression as he keeps posting.

Keep up the amazing work, Max!!
